The GeoTLD Group gathered for its annual members meeting on 5 and 6 September 2024 in London. We extend our gratitude to London and Partners, the registry for the .london geoTLD, for graciously hosting this insightful event.
The meeting featured a stimulating session on Leveraging Opportunities for GeoTLDs in Today’s Digital World, exploring innovative ways geoTLDs can capitalise on the evolving digital landscape. Another highlight was the session GeoTLDs: A Safe Space Online, which focused on strategies for ensuring safety and trust within geoTLD domains.
On the second day, members shared updates on recent developments within their geoTLDs and discussed preparations for implementing the EU’s NIS-2 Directive. The group also reinforced its commitment to active engagement with ICANN colleagues, welcoming updates from ICANN, the GNSO Council, the Registries Stakeholder Group (RySG), and the Brand Registries Group (BRG).
The meeting underlined the importance of collaboration in advancing the role of geoTLDs, promoting local identities online, and fostering secure online spaces.
